The fact that an embalmer could carry all his tools of the trade in a single case illustrates the simplicity of the embalming process. Traveling sales personnel hosted instructional workshops for coffin makers and others working in related fields who then would purchase embalming supplies from the company sponsor and start undertaking establishments.

Embalming basics haven’t changed much since their origin in the mid-nineteenth century; the deceased’s arteries are filled with preservative chemical solutions as blood drains from veins. In a portable kit, basic instruments ranged in size for use on different body parts and cosmetic items such as eye caps for keeping eyes closed were included.
